The representative of O.S.Popov Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications chaired a meeting of an international expert group on strategy and policy issues for deploying broadband in developing countries

In the period from March 18 to March 22, 2019 the Vice-Rector for Research of O.S.Popov Odesa National Academy of  Telecommunications Vadim Kaptur took part in the work of Study Group 1 of the Development Sector of the International Telecommunication Union, which met in Geneva, Switzerland.

In total, 171 participants from 59 countries took part in the meeting.

The corresponding group of 14 researchers, headed by Vadim Kaptur, is tasked with analyzing the best practices of applying strategic and regulatory mechanisms that promote the development of broadband access around the world.

During the meeting of the group of speakers, which was held on March 19, 2019, a preliminary report was presented, the team was able to form for the first year of work. The final report is to be submitted by the group in 2021, but during the period 2019–2021, the group also plans to hold a series of workshops on the development of broadband access, as well as other research activities.

The group, led by a representative of  O.S.Popov Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications includes leading scientists and representatives of regulatory and telecommunications authorities from countries such as Kenya, Mali, Congo, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Haiti, United States of America, Algeria, Bhutan, China and Turkey.

During the meeting of the panel of the speaker, 25 input documents were considered, including the draft report.

The next meeting of the rapporteur group on Question 1/1 will take place in September-October 2019.
