A method of adaptive transmission of useful information in packet-switched networks

Basic characteristics, the essence of development: The proposed method includes dynamical increase or decrease of the amount of service information transmitted along with the useful information through the communication channel and, as consequence, increase or decrease of the bandwidth required for the transmission of useful information, blocks of useful information from different sessions together with the mini-headers obtained by applying a header compression method are collected into a single aggregated data block that contains one common service header, during aggregation time, the amount of which dynamically adjusts to the parameters of the traffic and the network, at one end of the communication channel to the further reproduction of the primary data units in an amount equal to the amount of useful information blocks in an aggregated block at the other end of the communication channel.

In the proposed method, the compressor and decompressor are implemented at each side of the communication channel. Both compressors and decompressors operate with the special tables of sessions contexts, and also contain algorithms that permit to adapt their work to the changes of traffic and network environment parameters. Using information stored in those tables, the compressors can not to transmit all the service information for each block of useful data, but previously ensure the transfer of the first of the data blocks within the whole decompressor session and thereafter transmit only the unique context identifier and specific information messages in the case of rejection of the service information in the next block of the same session from expected values. Additional service information reduction is achieved through the aggregation of data blocks from different sessions entering the compressor during a time period less than the average time difference between the arrival of two blocks from one session. In the context of the proposed method is meant the exchange of information between two or more telecommunication network nodes by means of data blocks having a particular set of characteristics that uniquely identify a data block belonging to the session.

The main feature of the proposed method is its adaptability, i.e. the presence of the quality of service compliance monitoring mechanism through the regulation of size limit of the additional delay introduced at the input side of the channel. Quality of service during the traffic transmission using the proposed method depends on two components, each of which guarantees a certain level (Class of Service) during the transmission of the information between the compressor and decompressor: support the maximum allowable delay time and the desired size of the “efficiency factor”.

Comparison with the world analogues: The closest analogue of the proposed method of the transmission of useful information in packet switched networks is a method of minimization of the service information during the tunneling of the RTP-5 load, which provides the collection of aggregations of voice frames from different RTP-sessions into a single aggregated IP-packet during a fixed time, which results in the reducing of the amount of service information transmitted along with the voice useful load through the tunnel formed in the IP-network

Both the proposed method and its closest equivalent are based on the use of two methods to minimize service information: the method of header compression and method of sessions aggregation.

However, one of the key shortcomings of this method is its static nature, that is, the absence of mechanisms of adaptation of the parameters of its work to the parameters of traffic and network. Another major disadvantage of this method is its attachment only to voice traffic, which does not allow to use it to improve the information transmission efficiency during the provision of non-multimedia services. The aim is to overcome these drawbacks. Technical solution of the task is possible by using adaptive minimization of service information in terms of unification of communication protocols for all types of networks that provide packet switching.

Economic appeal of the development for market promotion, application and realization, parameters, cost: The proposed method not only allows to reduce in 1.5-3 times the overall amount of information by reducing the amount of service information transmitted with each data block, in the dynamic mode to carry out the adaptation of the basic communication channel operating parameters to the changes of traffic (a change of the number of sources or the intensity of the data blocks in a session), but also provides a dynamic management of data transmission process by the network administrator.

For a complete definition of working procedures in each particular case it is necessary to determine the functions of dependence of the “efficiency ratio” and the delay time on the “aggregation of time”.

Basic characteristics, essence of development: The development belongs to the local preventive-notification information systems for pedestrians. The basis of development is the task of increasing the efficiency of the negative red light signal by the fact that at the time of the ban pedestrians simultaneously with the red light turns on a beep with an interesting for pedestrians content: anecdotes, aphorisms, proverbs, sayings, poems, which will additionally make the pedestrian to wait for the end of fragment transmitting and simultaneously with its end the red light is turned off and the green light turns on at the moment when the pedestrians movement is permitted.

The posed problem is solved in the way that in the pedestrian traffic light of improved efficiency for increasing the effectiveness of the negative signal of red light, namely at the time of the prohibition of the pedestrians movement simultaneously with red light to activate the sound signal and to turn off the red light simultaneously with the end of acoustic transmission fragment and turning on a green light at the moment when the pedestrians movement is permitted are additionally introduced: a first logical element OR, a power supply, current key, a sound source, a speaker, a sound signal envelope detector, a threshold device, a second logical element OR, wherein the third processor output is connected to the first input of the first logical element OR and to the first input of the second logical element OR, and the output of the first logical element OR is connected to the control input of the current key, and to the input of the current key is connected the power supply output, current key output is connected to the sound source, the signal output of the sound source is connected to the input of the speaker and to the input of an sound signal envelope detector, sound signal envelope detector output is connected to the threshold device, the threshold device output is connected to a second input of the first logical element OR and to the second input of the second logical element OR, the output of the second logical element OR is connected to the third input of the microprocessor.

Comparison with world analogues: The closest in technical essence is a pedestrian traffic light, including the input link, the output of which is connected to the first input of a microprocessor, a light sensor, whose output is connected to the second input of the processor, the processor, the first output of which is connected to the input of constant current source in the path of green light, and a second output of which is connected to an input source of constant current in a path of a red light, output of a constant current source in a path of green light is connected to the input of the green light LED unit, and the output of a constant current source in a path of the red light is connected to the input of the red light LED unit. Methods of calculating the power of the interference noise in transmission systems with orthogonal harmonic signals of general type

Basic characteristics, essence of development: Propound the method of calculating the power of the interference noise in communication systems with orthogonal harmonic signals (CS OHS) of general type, generated by OHS distortions of general type while sending them via communication channels.

This technique is based on models of transmitted signals of CS OHS  of general type and a communication channel in the time domain, and involves the usage of a bypass cosine quadratic fronts.

Initial data for the calculation of the power of the interference noise by the proposed method is the impulse response of the communication channel and the parameters of the discrete signal of CS OHS of general type, such as the number of samples per clock period, the number of information channels, and others.

This technique will allow us to calculate the speed and transmission distance (achievable by these transmission systems.), it is necessary to develop evidence-based recommendations for the design and operation of networks, built on the basis of CS OHS  of general type. Optimization of processes of the design and exploitation of such networks, in turn, will certainly lead to a significant economic effect.

Basic characteristics, essence of development: Designs of magnetic field sensors, light, temperature, pressure, radiation with frequency output on the basis of unijunction transistor.

Sensitive to external influences components of submitted schemes of free-running generator serve like unijunction transistor and other circuit elements.

The advantage of presented constructions is that sensitive parameter to external factors is the frequency allowing through the input of additional sensing elements in the circuit can strongly increase  sensitivity of sensors-transducers.

Versatility of submitted designs enables to create   new structures of highly sensitive sensors. Identified the radiation dose limit at which the elements of submitted schemes can survive.

The method of determining of the powerful offshore earthquakes, not accompanied with a tsunami

Basic characteristics, essence of development: A method of determining of the powerful offshore earthquakes, not accompanied with a tsunami, is developed, which includes the registration of the parameters of a powerful sea earthquake, determination of the stations of the network of the recording tsunami waves stations, which the probable tsunami wave is able to reach, measurement of the distance to these bottom stations and determination of the minimum time of receipt of the likely tsunami wave on each of the selected stations.

The information on the results of measurements of the changes of the sea water column pressure on the network specified bottom stations of the tsunami waves registration is transmitted to the information processing center. The decision on the station passage of a tsunami wave is taken on these data on changes over time of the amplitude spectrum of the dynamics of the sea water column pressure on the specified bottom station in the frequency range.

The method provides an increase of the reliability of definition of a tsunami appearing by improving the efficiency of registration and processing of information.

Comparison with world analogues: In contrast to the existing analogs, this method becomes suitable for the reliable determination of the powerful offshore earthquake, not accompanied with a tsunami. To reduce the amount of information transmitted by bottom stations of tsunami registration, the stations, a possible tsunami waves coming to which is prevented by land, are withdrawn from the calculations, and the term of the bottom stations measurements is limited by the time interval of the estimated arrival of a possible wave to the station. The method is implemented using the devices of the tsunami registration system in complex with the earthquakes registration system devices.

Economic appeal of the development for market promotion, application and realization, parameters, cost: In the result of the application of the proposed method compared to the closest analog method, a tsunami early detection accuracy will reach 100%. Thus, the costs of the population evacuation in the case of errors in early tsunamis detection will be reduced.

Basic characteristics, essence of development: The method of adaptive transition of useful information in packet-switched networks relates to communication technique, particularly to a data transfer procedure in telecommunications networks.

The method involves both minimization of service information through  usage of header compression and aggregation of session methods and a mechanism of compliance of quality control service through regulation of limit size of the additional delay introduced by the input side of the communication channel.

Comparison with world analogues: One of the key disadvantages of this method is its static nature, that is, the absence of mechanisms of adaptation of parameters of its work with traffic and network parameters.

Another major disadvantage of this method is its attachment only to voice traffic, which does not allow using it to improve the information transmission efficiency during the provision of non-multimedia services.

Basic characteristics, essence ofdevelopment: The method of determination of tariffs for telecommunication services is presented, the core of which is a model of service delivery process (reference model), which takes into account only those elements of the existing networks, which are involved in the implementation of the provided services. This method is also based on a simulation model of operational costs definition by modeling of the work of similar-scaled hypothetical subsystem using the initial data corresponding to the current state of the market and acting legislation, that takes into account the features of the network functioning.

Basic characteristics, essence of development: The scientific-methodical bases of two brand new high-effective invariant to the types of traffic telecommunications technologies (UA-ITT and EX) of building the convergent multimedia new generation networks were developed, that can completely replace the main stack of Internet protocols – TCP/IP, which was not originally designed to transmit information in real time and has a very low efficiency of such transfer with the non-guaranteed quality of services.

Comparison with world analogues: Disadvantages of modern information infrastructure leads to the fact that along with the useful information it is necessary to transport service load, which is used primarily to solve the problem of matching dissimilar technologies together.

The main advantages of new technologies over the existing domestic and foreign analogues are: flexible addressing system with the variable address length, as well as significant decrease of the volume of the service information transmission in the communication channels (in 3-6 times compared with the existing IP-networks); reduction of the time required for encapsulation of the data more than in 3 times and so on.

So, for example, for the EX technology the calculations carried out for the network of a typical data center of 1000 servers allow to claim the presence of strong economic effect in the form of NPV, which is more than 200 thousand UAH for three years at the cost of the software package at the level of 50 thousand UAH, while the volumes of an hourly information exchange between two network nodes are greater than 10 TB.

Basic characteristics, essence of development: A number of new methods and tools for modeling and design of telecommunications networks of the next generations were developed, which increase in several times the effectiveness of the work of the designer. In particular, the developed methods have been used in determining the preferred method of building of telecommunication networks of broadband access to all the settlements of Ukraine, as well as to estimate the tariffs for the provision of the telecommunications services.

Comparison with world analogues: Analysis of the existing approaches to the construction of modern access networks allows to allocate a large number of options, which are formed as by the technologies, as by the scripts, as well as by the architectural and topological solutions, basing on which the networks can be built. The choice of a specific architectural model of network building is a highly non-trivial task and is based on a comprehensive analysis of the technical and economic indicators. Carrying out of this analysis today is significantly complicated by the lack of clear procedures, based on the reproduction of the process of the construction and/or maintenance of the modeled networks in order to determine the reference economic indicators.

Development of technical solutions of the access restriction unified system to the non- specific Internet resources in educational institutions

Basic characteristics, essence of development: It’s planned to use complex filtering systems which may consist of two or more filtration tools, each of which may use different types, methods and approaches to filter content as the basic principle of the system.

Patentability, competitive results: Scientific works of authors: The total number of articles on the subject of the project is -7 articles, the total number of documents on copyright protection – 6. The information about this project was published in a series of contributions to the International Telecommunication Union.

Comparison with world analogues: The project received great community support both in Ukraine and abroad. In May 2012, the project «Building safer internet for educational institutions» in which was presented the concept of access restriction to inappropriate system resources was awarded as the best project in the «C5 category. Building confidence and security in the use of ICT » at the competition organized by the Forum of the World VIP Summit on the Information Society 2012 (Geneva, 14-18 May 2012).

Economic appeal of the development for market promotion, application and realization, parameters, cost: The financial and economic model, which reflects the cost of the system implementation was developed. For example, the cost of connection to the system for all 12,500 general education institutions of Ukraine, which are connected to the Internet is about 32 million UAH.
