Odessa National O.S. Popov Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT) invites foreign citizens for training from September 01, 2020


         ONAT is the state educational institution of IV (the highest) level of accreditation providing high quality education services for the degrees of “Bachelor”, “Master”, “PhD” and “Full Doctor” in full-time and part-time forms of training on a contractual basis, and within the limits of state quotas.

           Having begun training highly qualified specialists in 1920, today ONAT has considerable experience and opportunities in training of specialists of all levels for the field of Telecommunications,  ICT, Cyber Security, Programming, Television, Radio Communication, Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies, Internet Economics, Internet Management, Internet of Things, Energy Efficiency, Energy Management, Sustainable Economics and Alternative Energy Sources both for Ukraine and for foreign countries. Studies in certain specialties are also conducted in English.

          ONAT is widely famous abroad. Since 2008 ONAT has been the member of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and also the constitutor of the International Constantly Acting Rectors’ Conference of Telecommunication Universities.

          There are several Doctors of Honours of ONAT , namely: Mr. Hamadoun Toure (General Secretary of ITU till 2014); Mr. A.M. Abbasov (Minister of Communication and High Technologies of Azerbaijan till 2015); Mr. G.A. Mammadov (Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University till 2016); Mr. Pashaev A.M.-D. (Rector of National Academy of Aviation JSC “Azerbaijan Hava Yollari”); Mr. Markaryan Garegin (Professor, Head of Communication Systems Department, Lancaster, Great Britain) and other outstanding personalities.

           In September 2020 ONAT will celebrate its centenary. For many years more than 85,000 professionals of telecommunication sphere have been trained at ONAT for Ukraine and other countries.

          First foreign students arrived for studying at ONAT in 1949. Since then the degrees of Bachelors and Masters have been obtained by nearly 2500 foreign students form 75 countries of the world; more than 80 of them became PhD.

         In 1998 the Preparatory Department for foreign students who do not know Ukrainian or Russian language was open at ONAT. During one academic year foreign citizens fulfill their training both in languages and in Mathematics, Physics and other subjects that are necessary for their further successful studies at ONAT on Master’s Degree Program, Bachelor’s Degree Program and Post-graduate Program.

        At present about 300 foreign students from 25 countries are being trained at ONAT.

  • Wireless and Multimedia Technologies;

  • Cybersecurity: Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security;

  • Automation & Computer Integrated Technologies;

  • Internet of Things;

  • Energy Efficiency;

  • Alternative Energy Sources;

  • Economics: Digital Economics, Sustainable Economics;

  • Management: Management of Energy Sources;

  • ADS & PR, Internet Advertising.

***The following Specializations are available in English:   Telecommunications and Radio Engineering; Software Engineering; Computer Science.

             In addition to higher education degrees, foreign students can obtain a number of international certificates, such as: Certificate of Energy Auditor ISO 50002, CISSP certificate (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), certificates from companies such as CISCO, HUAWEI, REICHLE & de MASSARI. This gives their holders undeniable advantages in the international labor market.

          If necessary, citizens of foreign countries can study for one year at the ONAT preparatory department for the program of preparation for admission to higher education institutions, which includes Ukrainian and Russian languages, as well as other subjects necessary for further study in the main specialties.

          In addition to professional growth, ONAT provides its students with opportunities for various sports, cultural and aesthetic developments in artistic and musical circles, as well as relaxation in the cottages at the seaside.

           All foreign students for the entire period of study at ONAT will be provided housing in comfortable student dormitories located near educational buildings, as well as high-quality medical care on the basis of an insurance policy.
